Kempton Tours: Hidden History
Sunday 3rd August
Tour: 12:00-13:30 (Open from 11:00)
Step Inside a Monument to Steam Power
Beneath the soaring arches and intricate glass-brick interiors of our Grade II listed building lies over a century of awe-inspiring history. This is your chance to explore it like never before.
Join us for an exclusive guided tour that takes you behind the scenes of one of the UK’s most remarkable industrial heritage sites. Discover the elegant architecture of a scheduled monument and climb through the multi-level spaces that once powered London’s drinking water – including our mighty 800-ton steam engines. You’ll even get up close to the world’s largest working triple-expansion steam engine – a machine that shares its lineage with those that powered the Titanic.
This special 90-minute tour begins at 12pm and includes rare access to multiple floors of the building, with expert commentary throughout. Your ticket includes full-day admission to Kempton Steam Museum from 11am.
The tour includes steep staircases and historic walkways, so participants must be at least 1.4m tall (4’7”).
Places are limited to just 25 – so book now to avoid missing out.
Please note: The Sir William Prescott engine will run not be running and tickets for the Hampton Kempton Waterworks Railway must be purchased separately.
