Do you have a curious streak? Do your kids have a fascination for the wonderful? If so, you’ll love our annual Science & Technology Show!
See an array of scientific experiments demonstrating the most interesting effects of physics and chemistry. On display will be experiments involving:
Gyroscopes
Chaotic Pendulums
Wimshurst Machine
Teslas Coils
Leyden Jars
Magnetism
Ultra Violet Light, and many more…
In the main building, we’ll be running our incredible, 800 ton Sir William Prescott triple-expansion engine throughout the day – where we also have a café and gift shop.
The museum is an industrial environment containing moving machinery, steep stairs and hard surfaces. Children must remain supervised at all times.
Tickets grant you all day admission to the Kempton Steam Museum, so please feel free to enter at any time. Admission ticket also include a guidebook which you can collect on entry. The Sir William Prescott engine will run several times per day.
Please note: this ticket is for museum admission only. Tickets for the Hampton & Kempton Waterworks Railway must be purchased separately.
SELF-GUIDED & GUIDED TOURS
Between the hours of 10:30am-12:30pm, we also offer visitors the chance to climb our incredible Lady Bessie Prescott engine as a self-guided tour - with a free guidebook available to help you explore and navigate the engine by yourself.
Guided Tours of the engine are then available after 1:00pm and last approximately 1 hour. Places are limited to a maximum of 6 people per tour and cost an additional £3. Be sure to book your tour at the front desk when you arrive on the day to avoid missing out!
Please note: all access to the Lady Bessie Prescott engine requires climbing steep stairs and due to historic railings, only those over the height of 1.4m (4' 7") are allowed to ascend the engine.
